With a New Federal Private Education Voucher Program and Continuing Voucher Expansion in States Around the Country, Advocates Need the PFPS Website More Than Ever!

Check Out Recent Updates to the Research Section and an Important Fact Sheet

The Public Funds Public Schools website has crucial information on advocacy, research and litigation regarding private education vouchers in the states and at the federal level. News releases are updated regularly, and the PFPS voucher bill tracker and additional interactive tools are available for use by advocates.

Even if you’re familiar with the PFPS website, you’ll want to check out these recent, significant updates:

  • Dozens more studies have been added to the Research page, including some as recent as 2025, showing why public funds should not be diverted to voucher programs. The research covers a wide range of topics, including student achievement, fiscal impact, lack of accountability, students with disabilities, discrimination, and segregation. The updated research page also includes a new section of studies debunking voucher proponents’ claims.
  • The two-page PFPS fact sheet, The Myths of Cost Savings From Private School Vouchers, demonstrates that voucher programs are expensive, impractical, and unsound. The fact sheet has been updated to reflect new research detailing the harmful impacts of voucher programs, including additional information about the high cost of universal vouchers, instances of significant fraud and abuse in state-level voucher programs, examples of where vouchers subsidize the education of students already attending private school, and a new section explaining how vouchers incentivize private schools to increase tuition costs.

“We remain committed to providing advocates with useful research and concise talking points about the numerous harms of voucher programs," said Nicole Ciullo, Associate Director of Policy & Development at Education Law Center, which directs the PFPS campaign. “We encourage public school supporters to use the updated Research page, the fact sheet and all the available resources to strengthen their efforts.”

Visit the PFPS Advocacy page for fact sheets, policy briefs, webinars, and other tools for advocates; use the PFPS bill tracker to monitor proposed voucher legislation across the 50 states and in the U.S. Congress; and check out the Interactive Tools page to access the PFPS private school dashboard and a universal voucher cost calculator.
