Wallace-Folsom Savings Investment Plan Act, ACES Program
Description
PFPS Summary: Alabama’s HB149 changes the name of, and expands, the Alabama College Education Program (ACES), Administrative Fund, and savings account to the Alabama Comprehensive Education Savings Program, Administrative Fund, and savings account. HB149 aligns state law with the 2017 changes in the federal “Tax Cuts and Jobs Act” of 2017, which allow tax-free distributions from 529 accounts for elementary and secondary private school expenses in addition to qualified higher education expenses.
