Description
PFPS Summary: HB1005 would expand the income eligibility limit for the state’s existing voucher program from 200% of the federal free or reduced price lunch income level to 225% for the 2021-22 school year and 300% the year after. The bill also increases the existing voucher amount to 90% of state per-pupil funding. In addition, the bill creates a new ESA voucher program for additional groups of students, including students with disabilities, children of parents in the armed services, and foster youth. The baseline voucher amount is 90% of a district's per-pupil state funding. The bill also allows parents a state tax deduction for the amount distributed to the ESA and used for qualified expenses.
