Title

ID HB0093 - Adds to existing law to establish the Idaho parental choice tax credit and Idaho Parental Choice Tax Credit Advance Payment Fund.

Description

PFPS Summary: ID HB93 establishes a new large scale individual tax credit program for parents of students enrolled in K-12 education. Beginning in 2025, all parents can receive a refundable tax credit up to $5,000 per child for costs incurred for in-person or virtual instruction in a private school, microschool, or learning pod. The amount of the tax credit increases to $7,500 for parents of students with disabilities. The amount of available tax credits is capped at $50 million per year. If that cap is met in 2026, priority status will be given to parents whose adjusted gross income on their most recently filed tax return does not exceed 300% of the federal poverty line. In 2027 and thereafter, priority status will be given to families who received the tax credit in the prior year, followed by families who meet the 300% poverty threshold.
