Title

Creates an education savings account for certain students reading below grade level. (gov sig)

Description

PFPS Summary: SB203 establishes the Reading Education Savings Account Program for students who are reading below grade level, as determined by literary assessments in second or third grade, and have been tested for a learning disability. There is no cap on the number of students who are eligible for a voucher under the program. Funding for each education savings account is “equal to the state’s average per pupil allocation as provided in the minimum foundation (MFP) formula, considering all student characteristics.” ESA funds can be used for private school tuition or other educational expenses.
