Title

COVID-19 Recovery Act

Description

PFPS Summary: NC S704 reduces, for the 2019-20 school year, several requirements for nonpublic schools with students receiving opportunity scholarship vouchers. Nonpublic schools are not required to meet the following requirements for such students: 1) Provide parents or guardians with the student's scores on standardized achievement tests, 2) Administer a nationally standardized test or other nationally standardized equivalent measurement to students in grades three and higher, 3) Submit standardized test performance data from the 2019-2020 school year to the state oversight authority, and 4) For nonpublic schools enrolling more than 25 voucher students, report to the state oversight authority on the aggregate standardized test performance of eligible students or provide standardized test performance data from the 2019-2020 school year to an independent research organization. This legislation also relaxes restrictions on the use of rollover funds that were unexpended due to Covid-related nonpublic school closures.
